Mostly this blog is about acquiring knowledge, to Masters level. But true Mastery implies that you can put your knowledge to use. So ponder this.
The full benefit of a systematic framework only comes if you use it systematically. The paper gives worked examples for obesity and tobacco control. But if, for example, you want to persuade a group of GPs to prescribe a different set of drugs, you shouldn't just muddle through. You should systematically think your way through this framework.
I only came across the framework because I found myself sitting next to its author, the excellent Susan Michie, at a meeting. Some of the components seem obvious to me - I have always asked myself about incentives for example (why on earth would the other person want to do what I'm asking?). But that's exactly the point: only some of the components seemed obvious. And maybe to you a different set seemed obvious. Now we can both be systematic about it.
