Recall bias

Nothing blogworthy in recent journals so here is a classic demonstration of recall bias.

Veterans with Gulf War syndrome appeared to have been given more vaccines than those without the syndrome - at least they remembered being vaccinated better. But when you checked the objective evidence of medical records: no difference between the two groups. Vaccination was more salient to the group affected by illness so they systematically recalled more than the unaffected group. Here is the paper.
